Attempted attack against land restitution leader Enrique Cabezas
About 10:10 p.m. in the hamlet of Llano Rico, Curvaradó, a group of men entered the home in which Enrique Cabezas, a leader in reclaiming lands in Curvaradó, was staying.
Enrique succeeded in slipping away from the group of men and reaching safety at the side of the bodyguards assigned by the National Protection Unit.
Minutes before, Enrique received a threatening message warning that he would be assassinated this night.
Similarly, another land restitution leader, Rafael Truaquero, received a call, threatening him and his family with death if he did not tell them the location of Enrique.
During the day, the father of Enrique, Enrique Cabezas, was followed by armed men, some of whom were seen leaving the property occupied in bad faith by the businessman Rios.
Enrique has been the target of an unprecedented persecution this year by groups that operate under paramilitary strategies hiding and protecting the interests of companies benefiting from paramilitarism.
Enrique denounced the connivance of the military and paramilitary forces in Curvaradó and the installation of the 54th Forest Battalion on land expropriated from the Community Councils.
At the moment this report is being edited, it was not possible for the government to act in response to an emergency request.
Since the lifting of the provisional measures, the mechanisms of institutional response for efficacious protection in emergency situations do not exist.
